Expungement in Alabama

What is expungement?

Expungement is the process by which an arrest record can be sealed or “wiped clean” from one’s record.

If my records are expunged, what does it mean?

It means the information pertaining to the case, is no longer available to the public. Information maintained by the state of Alabama such as booking photos and fingerprints as well as any other information collected as a result of the arrest will no longer be publicly available.

When expungement is granted, it allows those who were previously accused to have a clean slate and an opportunity to move forward without blemish on their record.
